Based in Southampton UK, Marchwood Scientific Services ( MSS ) is a privately owned company, the directors being the major share holders. The Laboratory was originally set up in 1983 by Rechem International, the waste management group, to provide an environmental monitoring service to its waste incineration plants. At that time this Facility was the only UK laboratory undertaking commercial independent dioxin analysis. Since then the laboratory has become one of the leaders in this field within Europe and undertakes contract work from organizations globally.
